Luiza Amélia de Queiroz Nunes Brandão foi a primeira Poetisa Piauiense, nasceu em Piracuruca (26/12/1838) e morreu em Parnaíba (12/11/1898) ela escreveu uma poesia onde externou o desejo de ser sepultada à sombra de um Gameleiro. Seu desejo não foi atendido mas sobre o seu túmulo, no Cemitério da Igualdade nasceu um frondoso Gameleiro.
