Spent last Friday afternoon up on the roof of the Rock. I think I will always head up there at least once per trip to the city. Such a magical, surreal place.

I was just on a little trip out to NYC and I finally shot some good, new material. I'm going to start off with this shot I took of the skyline during the blue hour. I hopped on the F train from midtown (shots will be posted soon) and got to Brooklyn Bridge park just in time to capture the lights turning on.

I wanted to get some of the rocks with the water washing over them in the foreground so I made my way down to the icy shores of the East river. A few other photogs had come and were shooting behind me. I was doing 5 shot brackets so on the +4ev exposure I was doing like 20-30 secs. Because of this, each bracket could take a coupe of minutes to shoot. I was capturing the bracket after this posted shot when the wake from a passing ferry began to create mini sneaker waves that had just enough force to soak me almost up to the knees and almost knock over my low lying tripod.

I only had the one pair of shoes for the whole trip, but soaked and cold riding the train back to china town, I felt a sense of photographers honor, that I was dedicated enough to get the shot. I think it was totally worth it….

I was trying not to sleep tonight and after a glass or two of wine I got inspired to play with some old photos (since I haven't shot anything recently). Found this sunset series from a few months ago when I was out in Oregon that was begging to be processed. I have a bunch of images that I have shot out of the window of my Dad's beach cabin, and this is just another example. I think we were boiling some crabs we caught on the dock earlier that day and listening to some great music while I was capturing this shot. Love this little piece of paradise. The dot at the end of the penninsula is coming from a really spectacular old lighthouse, Yaquina head.

Another picture from the football season. This one took quite a bit of post to get right. I did about an 8 shot handheld gigpano at 8mm. Gives it a crazy-big field of view. I then converted to B&W. I normally don't like selective color, but for whatever reason it works for me on this shot. Let me know what you think...
