View from the Headlands

View of the Golden Gate Bridge and the City of San Francisco from the Marin Headlands in Sausalito at night. I tried to bring a wider shot in but my Tamron 17-50mm lens can only go that wide.

The curved light trail in the sky to the right made by a small plane flying above the city, with some stars captured above it.

Anyway, in the past few days I have been seeing a lot of amazing Canon EOS 60D shots on Flickr stream and it got me thinking about moving up to EOS 60D. Is it too early to ask Santa for one? :)

Thank you, Vivianna MarcAnthony and Jude !

    - get back there and shoot! I know I will be going back for a blue hour shot or a sunrise shot - the view from up there is worth the $7 toll I have to pay just for this (hope they won't raise the toll any further, though!)

It’s a very elegant presentation of the GGB at night. Are the roads around the Marin Headlands lit well at night? They are so curvy, and sometimes narrow, I recall.

  15. S Ty Photography (4 months ago | reply)

    Thank you, !

    - the roads are NOT lit but the headlight should provide ample illumination. Also, there's always some night tourists shooting up there, so its all good! :)

Excellent night shot, Stew! You even captured star detail, as well as that cool arc. I have a GGB image with an arc, too. The overall exposure is really very good.
p.s I very much apprciated your Yosemite comment, Stew.

Nice shot! I'm headed out there for vacation this summer. I take it the roads up there are open at night huh? So many parks close at sunset now. :-(

  28. S Ty Photography (4 months ago | reply)

    Thank you, !

    - I think they close at 10 pm so you can replicate this shot (or even better) :)

Wow! Really nice shot - a classic look at SF! I grew up in Sacramento and we used to go camping up at Mt. Tamalpias. I always loved the view from there looking back down at the city. This shot brings me back home!

Beautiful night capture! I tried to head up to this spot the morning I went, but the fog became too thick to see past my parking spot. :-/ (and it was NOT the awesome kind of fog).

It seems like everyone's upgrading cameras these days. I don't think it's too early at all to bug Santa. :)
