The Colossal Palace in Its Sunset Glory

I have posted quite a few shots of the Palace of Fine Arts on Flickr, but they are night shots so far.

Last Saturday (January 21), San Francisco got a break on its first winter storm of the year. It was also the day before the Lunar New Year's eve and I thought I'd go to Chinatown to take some shots. However, it took me about 30 minutes to circle around the area and finally I gave up. It was 3 pm and I decided I might as well go check out the Palace of Fine Arts because I have wanted to take sunset / twilight shot of this impressive structure. So instead of posting a Chinatown pic as I originally intended to, I ended up getting this shot processed and posted. This is an HDR rendered by three images and treated with my favorite bluish green tint :-)

Hope you guys like it - constructive critiques are welcome and appreciated.

Updated: Took note of Skippy's and 4PIZON's critiques and made minor changes accordingly.

impressive structure. I do like the details in the columns/stone, but I will admit that the gradient in the sky looks a bit off to me.

Thanks for the critique, Chris! I did the sky on purpose because I thought I like how it looked... but I'll look it up again tonight when I get home heheh...

True, Bob! Too bad I dont have a wide angle lens - thats my next one on the shopping list heheh! Thanks for the comment/fave!

Very nice shot...the greenish sky makes it look a bit surreal. What lens did you use? It almost looks like a wide-angle (but I know you didn't use one...yeah, I read the comments). Still, great shot...it definitely got my attention.

Thank you frankmv and happy face for your kind comments! frank, the sky color was post processed and this shot was taken with a Tamron 17-55 mm f2.8 lens. It's definitely worth the money (less than $500) compared to a canon branded lens.

Thank you Klein for the fave :-) appreciate it!

Beautifully captured in HDR. As Marius said, It does not even appear to be HDR. I like contrast of the architecture’s tones against the sky.
