Originally a Gas Station, this is where KLIF-1190am moved to. KLIF was originally in the Cliff-Towers basement when the station started.. RAC Photography - SouthEast Dallas Photographer
Hey isn't that the old KLIF 1190 building? It
used to have a sign hanging on the corner
where the arches begin. I used to listen to
that station when I was a little squirt!
That brings back some memories!
Indeed, the former home of the flagship
station of the Gordon McLendon radio network,
this was the broadcast studio of the
"Mighty 1190," where many legendary
DJs spun the hits (yes, literally spun, since
in the olden days, they had these things
called "records" that looked a
little bit like large CDs... LOL) of the
1960s and 1970s. Another McLendon station,
KNUS, which played "hard rock" also
broadcast from this building. It was notable
for the fact that the DJs broadcast from a
second-story room right at the
"point" of the building, and were
visible through the large picture windows on
both the south and north sides of the
triangular structure.
