Lonesome Tree

I know I've posted similar photos of this hawthorn tree before (see my "Trees" set) but I thought this view makes an interesting comparison with the earlier ones. The path is a former Roman road.

Victoria Tavern, Shrivenham

Another couple of pub shots from the archives. This one is at Shrivenham, Wiltshire in 1980. I believe it is now called The Fat Dog and is next to the site of the old Shrivenham railway station, the entrance of which is just left of the centre of the picture. My old Hillman Avenger is on the left. You don't see many of those now!

Victoria Tavern & Shrivenham station

Another view from 1980, showing the disused station platform in the foreground. How nice it must have been in the old days to get off a train in the middle of nowhere and have a nice welcoming pub by the station!

Upwey Station 1974

Upwey station in Dorset was on the branch line to Abbotsbury. Closed in 1952, I photographed it in 1974, when it was already being taken over by industry.
