United Countries of Baseball

Notice how much space they give the Mets. Also, there's no way the A's own Fresno. Not that it's a big deal, seeing as it's Fresno, but still.

cool but total disrespect to the Mets!

I've actually been a bit of a Mets sympathizer myself for most of my life, so any disrepsect was not intended on my part. The people who made the mural obviously neglected the fact that Idaho and parts of Montana are clearly Mets territory. It's an easy mistake to make.

Where did you find that? That's one awesome map. Is Nike selling prints?

As a Yankee fan from Long Island, I take great offense to that map.

      Great Map!

I live in Vancouver, B.C., CANADA. We get many Mariner games and a few Yankee games.

We also get all the Blue Jay games; none of which I watch unless they are playing the Yankees or the Mariners.

The mets need more space on that map. I'm in Tampa and there are more Yankees and Mets fans.

      Met fan #1 here.!

Nice find. I got here from deadspin.com

      This is fabulous.

The Red Sox don't own all of New England though - Fairfield County is strictly Yankees/Mets country. And I'm pretty sure that Vermonters don't give a rat's ass about the Sox either.

Maybe there should also be dots of Cubs all over the map (especially in AZ) . Also, southwest Ontario is dominated by Tigers fans.

I was thinking the same thing. Where's all the Cubs dots.

    11. jwotis (59 months ago | reply)

Whoa, jen4n- couldn't be more wrong about Vermonters. Except for my father (who emigrated from upstate New York) every Vermonter I know, who likes baseball, follows the Sox almost religiously.

It is true that Connecticut has divided loyalties between the Red Sox and Yankees, and there are pockets of NY fans elsewhere in the region, but on a macro-scale, all of New England (except So. CT) and good portions of Quebec/Canada root for the Sox.

Hey! Don't dismiss Fresno! Because...uhm. Uh. I--uh. Nevermind. Great map though.

yeah, the Cardinals don't have as big of a pull in central IL as the map portrays. They need to be shaded in around Springfield and south.

the rangers have that much more territory over the astros? truly? that's sad.

i love the idea of cubs dots. seems like there are scads of cubs fans at every game i see, no matter where they play.

you can bareley see the Mets!!!!!!!! and the Rays have a lot more fan base than that!

    20. jwotis (36 months ago | reply)

Now that they've won a few games, the Rays have some fans. They were still a perennial last-place team when this map was made. Everybody loves a winner... (except Cubs fans).
