i don't know Lesley..i bet they taste good
but some of them look like little mushrooms
dipped in chocolate and the others look like
they might have poppyseeds on them...
Gaudenta, if you could tell us a little more
about these treats and the market that would
be great; when you have time of course...
Grybai or mushrooms! A pain to make! They are
a spice cookie shaped like a mushroom - you
make caps and stems separately. They contain
a variety of nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger,
cloves, cardamon, orange peel, brown sugar
and honey. Sort of like those little German
cookies you see around Christmas-
Pfeffernusse. These are so cute and much nice
looking than any I ever made.
Well, these cookies are really tasty :) In
fact, in Lithuania we cook their caps and
stems together. 2 halves (vertical) are put
together - and here we have a cookie :) Then
its cap is put into hot chocolate, stem -
into glaze. When glaze and chocolate freeze -
a cookie is put into poppies :) and here you
have a mushroom!
About Kaziuko muge ("Kaziukas'
mart")... Every year (first weeknd of
March) it is held in some squares in Vilnius
(capital of Lithuania). There you can buy
some original hand-made things in a good
price, for example: ceramics, clothes from
wool or flax, collars of amber, wood, metal,
some ornaments, paintings and lots of small
cute things :)
