Oh, how great, Irene! It really is funny. I wonder how many people take a double and triple take. :-)

What a nice, neat little neighborhood it's in too.

Lynne, this is our third visit ;-) to take shots of the statues......
this roundabout is in the centre of Heerlen, great houses, most older, but great to see, further-up to the left, my hubby lived for some time, some houses are turned into student appartments/rooms, well, that was a long time ago ;-)

So I guess there are multiple streets shooting off the "roundabouts"? I have not seen many here nor in upstate New York. We have one in Houston that I know of that is near the Zoo and it indicates the entrance area to the park just in front of the Zoo. Some times the meridian holds are larger space similar to what you show here, but that is the area between lanes of traffic going in opposite directions...I love the differences and similarities we share.

Pam, this roundabout has 5 streets shooting off, most just 4....Holland is getting more roundabouts every year, at the moment, just 2 miles from where we live, at least 4 new ones are made, lots of traffic problems at the moment, untill these are ready...I know, when I learned to drive there was 1 roundabout in this area, the next one 60 miles from here, today, every village has several ones, they are good to keep the traffic fluid, when they are ready ;-) Roudabouts seem to be a good way to get off the trafic lights, that is good!!!

I hated those, always got confused, not so much in a small town, but in the big towns, everybody was in a hurry, and if you miss it, you got to go around again, and again, and again............. well you get the picture.

Ulrike, these are quite simple, the big ones in big cities, well I'm not very happy about, often confusing, I know what you mean.........;-))

    Thanks Stacey!!

Karen, you want her job?? it is still cold and lots of rain ;-)) But I must admitt, these sculptures are just too funny and good!!

Great shot! There's so much detail involved - I like taking it all in. The buildings behind that roundabout are beautiful.

Thanks Becky, I tried to take it al, and yes, great buildings behing this roundabout too, old houses, in the city, toooo expensive ;-) for us, but beautiful!!

yes, i still want her job. sitting in the rain and cold beats sitting in a sterile little cubicle any day!

  14. irvo. (51 months ago | reply)

O.K.Karen. I guess we don't know this little cubicles here......I'm just a housewife, so I have all the space I want, my hubby has worked over 20 years in big factories, so no little cubicles either, since a year he is working in an office, but quite roomy.........we are lucky in this little country I guess!! Now I know why you want her job ;-) breathing car gasses all day LOL and some fresh air ;-)

That is a great looking roundabout. What is funny to hear is that you are getting more of them, while NJ which I can walk to from my house in Philadelphia, is getting rid of them! LOL I always think of the movie, "National Lampoon's European Vacation" where they are in London stuck on a roundabout, and the father goes "Look kids, Big Ben, Parliament...look kids, Big Ben, Parliament....etc" as they keep going around and around, unable to get off!

What a shock it must be for people for the first time to see that statue there. LOL That is such a pretty and clean looking neighborhood.

LOL I remember my uncle driving around and around, just for our fun ;-) I must admit, this was maybe 37 years ago, only very few people had a car back than. Most people have to look twice at this lady ;-)
The neighborhood has great houses, I think some are used as appartments for students.....
