Burning Man fashion evolves from the
desert experience on the playa. Rooted
in the practicality of protection from a
harsh environment, clothing becomes a
communication medium and survival tools
become accessories. Dust and wind are
part of the makeup and add to the
complexity of adornment. Going naked or
simply putting on a costume is easy and
misses the finer points of individually
developed character, style and flare.
Natural earth elements of primitive
culture are often combined with advanced
technological components using a
do-it-yourself recycled thrift store
aesthetic. A desert encampment has
become a city on the edge of fashion.

Feather boas are a no no. They shed feathers because because they are poorly made. Well-constructed costumes with feathers are not a problem.
