Quetzalcoatl Effect
In 1978, the Children of Light conducted the first entheogenic rite of passage experiment using photon stimulation of retinal photoreceptor cells. Initial research was based on a theory that pattern recognition was incorporated into Mayan ceremonial robes and information could be transmitted by using the color arrangement of feathers to activate synaptic centers within the visual cortex. Computer enhancement of ololiuhqui detail illustrated in the 4th folio of Codex Borbonicus was later integrated with an audio component into a 'process' which is still being developed and refined in the desert laboratory.
