      Where exactly is this?
      I've been dying to go there-- I've seen some really good shots from inside.

      It's on Williamsburg Avenue near East Main Street. Go east on Main through Shockoe Bottom, the next left after you pass Poe's Pub (also on the left) is Williamsburg Avenue. Turn left and it's right there. There's on-street parking at the next left after you pass the gas works. The chain link fence has been repaired, so you may need to be creative about getting on the site.

      Thanks for the great directions... is this a heavily populated area? I'm sure there's a way to get in but I don't want to get fined/arrested for taking photos..

      No, it's basically surrounded by a park and unused industrial land. There is a housing development beyond the park. At any given time, there are only a few people around. (Not that I'm condoning tresspassing in any way at all, of course. It must be said.)
