Shufflecase
Inspired by a homemade Altoids shuffle case. I've got plenty of these tins at home, so I thought I'd give it a go.
This is a bigger case than one might wish to carry around though. I'm still searching for the Altoids chewing gum case, which is about half the width of this one.

That must pump out some spicy tunes!
Wonder what that'd look like hanging on the lanyard?

This reminds me of a contest that was held recently. The purpose was to find as many uses of the Altoids tin as possible. One person came up with using it as an iPod case and/or battery pack. Try knitting an iPod shuffle sock. They have 'em for the regular iPods, why not make one for the shuffles!

Thanks for the comments, all!
bertakamous, "spicy tunes", ha! I've got a few lanyard ideas, but nothing involving an Altoids tin.
Smaku, knitting isn't exactly my forte, that excellent idea though, is something...
...nitaspitas would be great at. I'm sure you could knit some awesome shuffle socks!

I wonder if I can get my 40G iPod to fit in there!? That`s so funny/ clever! Did you give your Shuffle a name? Our iPod is called "Fuzzy!" :)

Thank you both.
coryandfarah, I think the 40G might be too big. My Shuffle's name is "Blinky Blinkerson"

Thanks for naming me as your inspiration. I like your foam and ribbon design, so much that I may consider making one of these for myself without the hole as I only use the case for transporting my shuffle. The iPod Shuffle is the only way to fly -- so small, so light, and so easy to use.

Love it, especially the cinnamon - I tried them for the first time in SF and kept the tin (might say made in GB but you don't come across them very often here)... Using found things like this and hiding technology inside is a neat concept, like that gutted Sony Walkman someone put an iPod in. Not sure that it really needs the protection though?
I walked into the Apple Store the other day with the intention of buying a Shuffle but somehow managed to persuade myself that it didn't fit with my stringent gadget compatability guidelines. Fool that I am.

welikesnow, I was very inspired by your Altoids case idea. Also a fan of your blog as well!
verseguru, I loved that iPod-in-a-walkman idea too! So...now I'm curious: what are your "stringent gadget compatability guidelines"?

Err, practicality more than anything (but rather than go into the gory details here I've done so on my blog instead ;)

Very Creative Idea!

My husband is an Altoid junkie, so we have lots of the mint and tin cans lying around. I just compared them, and the gum tin is little more than half the width of the mint tin, but it's also about 1/4" shorter. Not sure of the dimensions of the Shuffle, but that might be too short.
Good luck with the experiment though! The whole tin use is a great idea.

Lovely shuffle case ;)
I've prepared a guide to help you get a free iPod without getting tricked. I have it on my university website: qlink.queensu.ca/~4ama2/freeIPod

This is really sweet! I love mint tins, have a bunch lying around, and should think of some more stuff to use 'em for.

The gap store sells mints and that would be the perfect size.
