The plans were submitted 5 years ago for
apartments. However, to date the building
hasn't been sold and they have deteriorated
quite badly. I have spoken to Nigel Roberts
at Preston Planning Department who have
requested that the owner submits plans for
outline work to carry out essential repairs.
To date, 18th Feb 2010 Nigel Roberts is
considering whether these repairs are
adequate enough to address the problems of
the building. The Victorian Society and
myself have asked Mr Roberts to consider
serving an emergency works order on the
owner. This is still being considered but
the planning office don't move very quickly.
The fear is that these buildings will
deteriorate so much that eventually they will
have to be pulled down despite the Grade 2
listing. You will not be surprised to learn
that the building plot is more valuable to a
developer without the buildings! The best
thing that could happen is for the buildings
to be converted to apartments. Their facade
will not be altered. Linda Barton, Preston Historical Society

Came across this on a brief visit to Preston on a wet Tuesday afternoon this week. An amazing place - and a great photo.
