June 5th Palouse Sunrise
Here is just the beginning of the Sunrise..the sun is just starting to KISS the hills in the background you can see the color beginning..I have other shots where it has come around the corner & the hills are lit up more..but am posting this one now because of how the shape of the clouds & the foreground meet. I like that...Also..that blue "hill" back there is not a hill it is the shadow that "step toe butte" is throwing on the land.
It's going to be a GREAT day in Oregon..Summer has arrived..I won't be on flickr much this weekend..so will try to catch up with you all at some point. No need to comment because I may not be able to visit back....sorry..:-)

Taken with Vinny's 500mm manual focus old lens...otherwise these little farm houses where just mere specks with my 70-200mm.

this is so much of what I remember in younger days in Idaho, until getting farther north, and then the hills became mountains.......a beautiful series Lynn!

All wonderful images: the symmetry of the first, the way the light is gently touching the second, and the third - that road is calling to be followed.

nice shot Lynn of the Palouse. It looks like a golf course. Pretty hazy in the background....it was really hazy when I visited there last summer.

WHAT SAY YOU (24 months ago | reply)
All three pictures intering in there own way
1 Top first one the multiable layers of colour creating the depth. Cloud formation and the deeper colour clouds ascenting the light touches of the sun. very well done.
2 500mm lend the depth of field with the compression well done in focus f stop selection and the clearity of haze(lucky)
in the picture.
3 The green and again the clearity of the distance with the road traveling through the scene. In all very well done Lynn. What fiter used to cut the haze?

I am still going to comment even if you won't comment back. I love all those colors in the first one and the cloud formations. In the second one, I love al the different shades of greens in the hills and how they contrast with the red farm houses. In the the third one, I love the comp. The road makes for a great leading line. Also, the different shades of green (again) and the perfectly blue sky. I love the clouds, too. These photos are so amazing! Astounding, actually! And every other positive 'a' adjective.

What stunning landscapes - beautiful greens and rolling hills. The light is amazing in the first and I LOVE that track in the third... loooks like the sort of place you need a camera ready permanently!!

Wonderful view, Lynn. I gotta say I really like that 3rd shot the best. Love the way it leads the viewer through the frame.
keartona (24 months ago | reply)
In terms of composition the third shot is my fav but all three are good because each gives a different impression of the place.
I had never heard of the Palouse till seeing pics of it on flickr. Such a beautful, remarkable landscape.
Its so different to anything in the UK because of the almost complete lack of field boundaries and divisions.

Have fun at the lake today.

So this must be the sunrise where you and Dene were celebrating? This must be it because I'd been high-fiving too! It's so much like a patchwork pastel quilt. I hear you about summer, I need to get out there myself. Have a great time tonight.

Wow Lynn, I love all the shots, they are just so vivid and the greens just so perfect. I love the foreground in the first shot and the colors in that sky, just phenomenal. The third shot, the composition and the sky are just amazing!

Gorgeous country and you've captured in beautifully...everyone.

Such beautiful work in each of them. The colors are so wonderful in the first one, it's easy to see why it got top billing, but the others are great and probably should have their own spot too! Great work. I just checked my crystal ball and it said it sees a 500 mm lens in your future. Well, what it actaully did was describe what a 500 mm lens looks like and I just assumed that was a 500 mm lens. Have fun.

Dang Lynn! Gorgeous series! I love the cloud shelf with those amazing colors. I can see a bunch of meteorology books placed on top of it. :-)
