JCPenney Court at Hampshire Mall

JCPenney opened its doors along with the Pyramid-owned Hampshire Mall in Hadley, Massachusetts in 1977. Thirty years later, the warm, garish 1970's tone of wooden facade, disco-chic mirrored globe-bulb ceilings, octo-tiles and terrazzo all over might suggest you've stepped into a timewarp...

Though not much has changed, showroom windows have gone dark and pieces of the tile are falling apart. See more angles in the "Hampshire Mall" set.

Just the type of mall design I like. It vaguely reminds me of the Caldor end of the Newburgh Mall (NY).

Saw this photo attached to an article on the Consumerist and immediately recognized the mall, having gone to high school in South Hadley and worked there as a teen.

I live in North Carolina these days, so spooky nostalgia.

I'm a local who recognized the mall right off when I saw the pic on Consumerist. Congrats!

I had the exact same experience as Mr. Jay Adan just now.
