Sunrise - Monument Valley
THIS PHOTO BEST SEEN L A R G E
the arc of the old ones
ascends the sky
on the back of a palomino
scattering gold and dreams
bringing forward
what was done in the night
hope springs eternal
in the thin air of the plateau
the shawl of the people
envelops lost soul
wending around the base
of left mitten
transferring old songs
the air blows restless
as the sun comes up
bouncing light
into the furthest reaches
of the darkness
long term memory
I treated with respect
the monuments
have been animated

Thank you so much my friends.
Standing in the parking lot waiting for the road down into Monument Valley to open. A stirring began to grow in anticipation that the the magic was about to unfold, we knew something special was about to happen. I am glad I have this forum to present one moment of the rising of the light. At this point the sun having just broken the rim gave us the signal that the show was beginning. What had been a quiet shuffling of gravel and whispers in at least five languages turned into a hush and then an explosion of laughter and gasps.

Absolutely AWESOME. Thank you. One of the most incredible photos. Great composition, color, vision, and everything (ok maybe you could have chopped a little off the left but again that's your vision and gives a dramatic panorama to the shot.) What a moment -- the sun makes her appearance. It must have been life changing, at that instant. Yes, every dawn is so special. And I get the excitement of this one. The thrill will never fade.

Nice capture. I had the fortune of visiting here for the first time in the last year. We were there in December and because of the cold weather we were the only people in Monument Valley that afternoon and night. I must go back some day.
