Loch Lubnaig
There were banks of fog rolling down the loch every so often. The orange glow on the bottom right was caused by a camp fire further down the loch. The lights on the bottom left were from log cabins. Remaining light provided by the moon. The fog has caused a definite softness to the image.
I used a wide aperture and a high ISO setting on this to get a fast enough shutter speed to prevent star trails. I am going to try this technique again on the next new moon. The absence of moonlight will give more overall contrast, especially to the sky and many more stars should be visible. The only snag is trying to get a new moon to coincide with a clear sky. No mean feat for Scotland!
