Well now...look at you! It's so good to see you out and about. Heck, it's just good to see you, period! Hope you didn't run over anybody in that thing. My mom used one the last time I was home. I had to direct traffic. She was dangerous! LOL!

Welcome back to the funny farm, my friend!

Nice to see you up and about, I had a major reconstruction of my whole knee in 04 and was able to go home the same day. I seem to have great healing powers - I then got a follow up call from the hospital the next day, and they curiously asked me "what are you doing right now?".

I was out in Sydney on crutches shopping, walking around! LOL

After 6 weeks they declared I was a freak! As they felt I was already at 6 months rehab level.

Lots of physio, massage and 2 hours a day workout on the old legs.

Hope you do as well as me! And you have pet therapy!

Thanks for sharing the video! Years ago I watched a leg being amputated. That made me queasy, but this was simply magical. I don't see how they do it! Good luck with the recovery, Indee!

I'm glad you're doing so well!

WARNING TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE NOT SHUDDER-PROOF:
    DON'T READ BEYOND THIS POINT

As for the gore in the surgery video, in 1980, when I worked in an ER-trauma center (Parkland Memorial, Dallas, TX) and had to interview patients (or otherwise try to find something on their body that might lead us to an identification), one of my first interpreting jobs between doctor and patient in the trauma room, was a case where a young guy had severes almost all the fingers of one hand in a tortilla machine. As the doctor was unwrapping the bandage, and held the dangling digits in front of my face, I had to ask the poor boy from Mexico how it had happened. I felt myself faint, and asked to be excused for a minute. After I stepped outside the room and caught my breath, I never had that kind of problem anymore :-)

However... when I saw this prodding with the rod into the knee, and the surgeon holding and guiding the flesh, not only was I reminded of my never-used chicken rotisserie grill which required me to do a similar thing with da bird, but I did feel a pang of uneasiness.

Luckily, afterwards, I found out that the patient in this video wasn't you, lol!

Oh my! I just read tinamathis's comment. I am not one for this type of stuff- I"m not gunna be visiting that video!!! lol

Looks like you're doing better however, which is great. :) Good luck!

Marlys, it's not gore in that sense... you only see one drop of blood in the video; but it's the prodding inside that made me a bit queasy -- especially since I was still thinking it was indee on the table!!!!!

it's the industrial drill and the cords and strings that freak me out.

I knew I wasn't going to watch that video, but there should be a warning on Tina's comment. I didn't want to think about the pulling and prodding.

  21. indee• (44 months ago | reply)

i don't think it's gory---it's AMAZING what they can do with power tools!
I hope to have full use of my knee again.

Good to see you are up and about. My knee was fine in about a week, I went back to work and climb stairs so I never needed therapy. The only thing that bothered me for a long time was I could not get down on my knee for a couple of months. :))) So all will be well with you soon. Healing wishes for you.
