Thanks!
The colour one is the original with no adjustments. (just cropping) It was shot using cheap Shoppers Drug Mart ISO400 film shot at ISO800 and it was lit by the morning light coming through our blinds.

Ah! The cord! But of course.
It has a really wierd connector. I'm kinda wondering what this thing sounds like. That's another little project to shelve away. There's just too many of those little projects.

Stef, is that natural DOF?
spDuchamp (70 months ago | reply)
Yes it is. I used a 1:1.4 50mm lens that has a very shallow DOF.

I'm especially interested to find out how your experiment in underexposure turns out. Are you getting processing done at Shopper's as well?
spDuchamp (70 months ago | reply)
Yup. I'm doing pretty much all my processing at Shoppers. I don't really have much time or patience for scanning negs lately. I did try to use DX recoding stickers to see if it would trick the machine at Shoppers, but that's not really how their system works. The stickers have no affect on processing. In order for Shoppers to push during developing they would have to turn the machine off part way through processing and I just don't have that good a relationship with the folks there to even ask.
All I'm doing now is pushing the film one or two stops when shooting. The above shot is cheap Shoppers Life brand ISO 400 film (on sale for $1.50 a roll) shot with the camera set to ISO 800. I have a couple rolls shot at 1600 that I haven't had developed yet. I'm hoping for a lot more contrast and grain.
Burlap Jacket (70 months ago | reply)
Underexposing by a stop will certainly add grain to the final image.
