Abandoned Building in Okinawa
Taken in a large abandoned club in Okinawa. This is a HDR shot from 3 xp. After some digging on the internet I found that this structure was supposed to be the Royal Hotel. It was a business venture by a wealthy man who ignored pleas from locals that he was building too close to ancient tombs. The project was halted nearly 30 years ago after the untimely deaths of several workers as well as mounting superstitions among laborers. The businessman eventually went insane and died. That all sounds pretty weird, but that's the only stuff that I could find about this place. If anyone has anything else I would love to hear it.
Made #13 on Explore! Thank you my friends.

The story about this building is very weird, I can imagine now ghosts wandering in the corridors.

How I would love to explore this place. And since it is in Japan, there is a minimum risk of making bad encounters in such places!

This brings back so many memories when I was stationed @ Kadena I explored this place several times & in the day of film cameras I took over 1000 shots around this place and a couple of hours of video. Sacrry but a cool place to explore.

It's called the "haunted hotel" and is a common tourist spot among the servicemembers. The tower of the hotel affords an amaizing view...

Wow, this brings back memories. We used to go there at night in high school and scare ourselves silly. It's been over 10 years, and it still gives me the shivers. Great photo of it in daylight! I've never seen it this way.

The neat thing about this photo are the moods it conveys - somber, lonely, desolate, poignant.

Does there happen to be a set of water slides out side of the hotel? I was in Okinawa in 93-94 and went exploring in a place like this.

I used to go here a lot when the Hotel was still open for business, and the ghost stories (and bad business climate) hadn't yet closed the place. The pool was really nice, too. The hotel restaurant was a good place to catch a meal, and the female staff were all cute and friendly. Those were the good old days...although I like it much better now in its decrepit state !
