Your whole series of the chuck wagon race really captures the movement and excitement of the moment. Henri Cartier-Bresson would be proud of you.

tough.... yours is a good capture, in this case I have to go with my gut (or maybe it's just the ham attracting my gut) either way... lovely but

Wow what a great challenge. This is a tough one to choose between and I like the defender's because of the composition and well... it's just a great shot. But I like your shot because the excitement of yours tips the balance in your favor, it makes me lean forward to see if I can see what will happen. Great work

For me I think this challenge is all about composition... I simply find the defenders picture a better composed shot... Whilst I do like the challengers image and the action depicted, I think the horses should've been treated more sympathetically within the shot...
The image is about the racers, for sure but I would have either shown the horses in their entirety or cropped right back to just about where the harness attaches to the rig... movement is present in the wheels and the horses' hind quarter, the rest for me is a distraction...
Sorry but for me this is noneof100bw#2

I love your image, the way you captured those expressions and movement, congratulations, excellent work!
I believe that your image should be in this group, but not a t the expense of removing the defender, a classic and fantastic portrait. So please, if you dont succed now, come back in a month to challenge a different image.

The butcher is not to be messed with, his look and posture tell a story. The hams are a good background, the overall composition is like a good bone - enough to chew on for a good while. Satisfying tones.
The wagons are a good capture but would be better with more background especially a whole horse.

I agree with sergio above. This shot does deserve a spot in the pool, but the butcher is a stronger shot.

I love the excitment and movement of this shot - a real pity bout the horses head however - would have added an extra element. The faces on the two fella's are really funny. I also admire the technical aspect of capturing this shot in the first place.
I think the tonal range of The Butcher is excellent, but (on a personal note) I'd have liked to see a bit more exposure on his face, to really make it stand out. There is also something about the crop that puts me off a bit. The square format works OK, but (again personally), I feel that the image would have a greater impact if the butcher was further to the right, maybe allowing us to see more of what he may be looking at on the left.
I would have voted for this one - but it looks like the challenge has been won by The butcher.
Ah well!

There are actually 4 Wagons, Teams and 4 Outriders in this scene... (20 Horses)Expanding this scene to include them all in the frame would not be a better image.. I was focused on the Drivers.
