Monterey Portola Plaza Hotel
The Old Whaling Station is only a block or two from the Portola Plaza Hotel, and this is where your walk would start as you leave the hotel. In this photo your looking at the side of the hotel (with a conveniently placed Brew Pub on the first floor ... hmmmmm good).
