Bubbles on Glass - Metro Manila, Philippines
My mother-in-law gave my nephew a little gun that lit up a strong UV glow while blowing bubbles. He later had the idea of shooting it against the glass windows of the Pizza Hut we were eating at. I loved how it looked, but I don't think the staff liked it very much.

This shot, at first glance seems very intruiging and somewhat abstract in both its subject matter and execution. I definetely like the b&w conversion and slight grain here, as both of them seem to enhance the "classic" feel of this - this shot may have been taken yesterday or 30 years ago, which I really like.
Technically, there is excellent separation between the bubbles in the foreground and the boy behind them - excellent focus work.
I like how you've captured the boy slightly to the right of the frame looking past the camera, almost as if completely engrossed in teh bubbles and paying no attention to the photographer - also very well done.
There are only a couple issues that I have with this shot though and chief among them is the slight clutter on the left side of the frame behind the bubbles - it distracts from the overall composition and makes the eye wander a bit. This is especially evident right next to his face, where you have both a cluster of small bubbles and lots of out of focus shapes behind.
The other very small issue is that this seems just a bit underexposed - especially around the face - I think seeing some of the emotion and especially the eyes of the boy might have enhanced this image just a bit.
Overall, this is outstanding! Great work.

It took me almost 10 seconds of looking at this photo to realized there was a person behind the bubbles... which made this photo a whole lot MORE interesting for me to look at.
I don't know why, it just seems like you've done some selective coloring in this photo... or maybe I just imagine his shirt as pale-orange.
The thing I like most about this photo is the different textures: the bubbles, the bokeh in the background, obviously the boy... everything just seems to be working together very well.
Wonderfulll capture.

I can get into this one. There is some distracting parts in the photo background. But if you're not working in a studio or a very controlled environment then there is very little you can do at times, and I understand that. Although there are cases when you can reposition, but often life doesn't let you get away with that! Nice capture.
Now I love the textured grain in there, and the color (or lack of), it's neat. The bubbles offer an abstract look at things, but when you realize what's going on, it's straight forward. I'm sure the main focus here is the bubbles and not the boy, seeing more of the boy is cool though, and definitely the eyes (like mentioned above), but over all I think you've done a pretty cool job with this photo. I do enjoy it.

I like what you have done here and you've carried it off well. As mentioned the background is a bit distracting, and it is a shame, because without this, the photo would move up several "notches".
I think the graininess you have from the high ISO works well, and you have a done a great job of getting such crispness in the bubbles at such a slow shutter speed.
Nice work!

I thought this photo was a scan of some film that was taken a long time ago-not a modern digital snapshot. The b&w makes it look old along with the noise that the ISO1600 creates.

So let me get it right, the bubbles were blown onto a window and then you shot the window (that had the reflection of the child)? I like the creativitiy that went into this shot. Its depth (visually) is appealing. I like how my eyes can go to the bubbles and the glass then to the rough shot of the boy then to what's happening in the background. Nice job!

I like it. Love the focus on the bubbles, the face is just out of focus enough to avoid distraction, while in focus enough to make out a bit of detail on closer inspection

Wow, very cool. The bubbles look great, but the person behind them makes the photo something really special. Really nice.

This is a great image - when I first clicked on the page, I was so focused on the structure of the bubbles that I didn't realize there was a person there! It was quite a pleasant surprise when he suddenly made himself known. I love the concept of this one and the black and white is perfect. My only problem with the image is the left side of the frame seems a bit cluttered. I think you could crop in to about the beginning of the boy's shoulder to eliminate that clutter.
