From the Kellia of Fr Nikodim on the promontory of the peninsula. August 1966Fr Nikodim's kellia was high on the side of the mountain of Athos. Per Nicky, most of the monks in this area are hermits, living either alone, or in groups of only two or three. There is a monk standing on the quay (truly, look for him! he appears only the size of an ant form this vantage point). In 1966, Fr Nikodim had lived in this location for over forty years.

Uploaded on Oct 27, 2007 Konstantin Savitsky. To War. 1888Russian troops departing for the Russo-Turkish War of 1878-79, when the Orthodox armies liberated the Balkans from the infidel Turk. Glory to their memory!
Uploaded on Oct 26, 2007 Viktor Vasnetsov. Baptism of Russia. 1898This is why we call Prince St Vladimir, "Equal-to-the-Apostles"! This is in the Cathedral of St Vladimir in Kiev (today, unfortunately, it has been stolen and occupied by squatters from the EP), and it was painted in honour of the 900th aniversary of the Baptism of Russia.
Uploaded on Oct 26, 2007 Valentin Serov. Portrait of Tsar St Nikolai Aleksandrovich. 1900Perhaps, the most famous portrait of this sainted tsar. It certainly conveys his personality, which was not as weak and simple as some left-wing academics would have it.
