When I was a lad...

    I always had my birthday off from school, as it fell on a national holiday. This changed at some point in my youth (apparently the powers-that-be in up north finally got the memo it had been changed to synchronize with Canadian Thanksgiving a decade prior) and with the new "(Observed)" designation on the calendar it was a holiday no more.

    Today (well, today as of last month when I first contemplated posting this) Erin decided to do something about that, and made this cake to celebrate the true meaning of Columbus Day: my birthday!
