I am trying to learn more about portrait photography but since I don't have access to models I have to experiment with myself which is a pain: it's so difficult to focus on my face when I am actually standing behind the camera! But it's not all that bad, I mean it's so easy to communicate with myself about what I want! Also, those photography sessions supply me with new facebook profile pictures! :D

      Thank you :)

Thank you, but I don't look this good in real life: remember, I am a photographer so I know what angle to photograph myself and what kind of lighting to use.

gee after knowing you here for years at flickr...I feel like I am seeing a young man mature!

nice photo. Try taking a light and face the light and take the camera to the side either right or left and turn you face to the camera. Get a mirror first to make sure that your face is in the light before doing that as I do not know what kind of lamp you will use and lighting of the light bulb...so you just have to practice first. That way there shouldn't be half in shade....but your black and white is really nice of you.
