This waterfall exceeded its promise to photographers in every possible way including ... the roar of the falling water hitting the pool, the wonderfully refreshing cloud of cool mist, and the attractive native lady that provides a sense of scale.

La Fortuna waterfall, Costa Rica is a fantastic "swimming hole", but you do need to be a bit careful about getting directly under the falls.

The two craters of Arenal, the active volcano in central Costa Rica, are both belching fumes in the background. Given the poor light conditions, I felt the foreground stump was needed to make the image somewhat interesting. The locals, however, said that the fact that they two craters are even visible is sufficient since they are usually hidden by low clouds 85% of the time.

It seems hard for a couple of tree frogs to find a private moment, even on the depths of the rain forest, when photographers go on a "night walk".
