Radcliffe camera

Radcliffe camera by wit.
Constructed from 1737 to 1749 the Radcliffe camera was originally a science library. The money for the building came from a bequest from John Radcliffe, the royal physician, and a competition was set up for the best design. The prize was eventually won by James Gibbs but he was persuaded to alter his original plans to the present design, which is similar to the concept of Nicholas Hawksmoor (he had died before the prize was awarded) who was responsible for the design of the adjacent All Souls College.

Great lighting, it was worth to wake up earlier! Too bad we see the bikes in right bottom corner, they distract a bit.
