~A valentines day story~ 45:365

This story is a little long but I think you'll find it's worth the read!!!

Today being Valentines Day, there were endless amounts of gorgeous roses at the store when I went to do my grocery shopping. So I grabbed a dozen, and went about my shopping.

I went to check out and I piled my groceries and the flowers on the conveyor. As they moved toward the cashier they bumped into something and one of the buds broke off. The cashier was instantly apologetic. I told him it was not a big deal and not to worry about it. He asked If I choose this color specifically and I said yes. So he proceeded to tell the bag girl to try and find some in the same color and apologized to me again. I looked straight at him, and just kind smiled.I told him it was just a single flower and I know how busy they were. Really and truly no worries. He stood there for a second just looking at me, then turned and handed them to the girl bagging with out scanning them and said "those are your,no charge". He then thanked me for not getting upset about it!!
This gets better. The reason I was buying them, was because I had decided wanted to have flowers to give to people as I ran my errands. I just have noticed how sad so people get on this holiday, if they don't have a significant other. Love is so much bigger than that. I wanted people to feel loved.

Is that not a cool turn of events?!!! He was paying it forward, so to speak and he didn't even know it. =)

    Happy Valentines Day everyone!!

The picture of the rose with the tiny heart is beautiful but even more so is your story. I constantly see in you that you "get it" - you always seem to take time to "smell the roses" - you realize how important the simple, and little things in life are - and that they are really the big things in life. You have a kind and loving heart - that is always shining through - YOU have a Happy Valentine's Day - I have a funny feeling that you will :)

I LOVE this story! Thank you so much for telling it :) That makes me so happy and it really was so good of him and so good of you to have such a generous idea in the first place. A lot of people are down on Valentine's Day saying it's manufactured for retail consumption and, while that has some truth to it, I really just enjoy having a day when you can reflect on your loved ones and how special they are. And by loved ones I mean family, friends, pets, coworkers, neighbors, etc. Definitely not just significant others.
