Totally brilliant idea ~ and great effect!

Just a question...how stable is the wax once it's melted on the canvas? Whenever we've done anything with crayons it's had a tendency to crumble and peel and generally spoil very quickly. I'd hate to waste all those lovely crayons for two minutes of satisfaction and then a whole hour of tears!! Also, would it work as well if you didn't use canvas, or not so do you think?

      - you could do this with out a canvas but you would need to find or make something fairly sturdy. Even poster board would be to flimsy. Maybe that poster board with a styrofoam layer would be sturdy enough? I feel like the texture of the canvass might have helped it from dripping all the way down, but I don't know for sure. If you try it with something else let me know how it works!
As far as the crayons crumbling, my sister did this with the kids, when I was visiting her. It looked wonderful the whole time I was there. It got put on display in there play room, so it's not being touched every day. They can all see it though and enjoyed it hanging with their other art work. I am not sure if different brands of crayons would be more or less likely to chip or melt. We debated over which brand to buy, we went with crayola.
I hope some of this has been helpful! =)
