layers of time

Jatiluwih is my favorite spot in Bali. Unlike the more popular tourist destinations like the beaches and temples in Bali, these terraced paddy fields were free of tourists when I was there. I could easily sit there for hours admiring the vast landscape full of irregular shapes. This is one of the few shots I took when the rain stopped for a short while. I really wish I’d had another day or two to revisit this place in a better weather condition.

You got to visit Bali? I'm jealous. Time to start saving for a trip.

I was just talking to someone about how much better it is to visit an awesome place when nobody else is around. That's what it was like at the Salinas Missions this last weekend.

Your image here is a window to another world. =)

I agree with you on the terraced rice paddies in Jatiluwih as a favourite destination in Bali. Magic.

Wonderful scenery my friend! Love the lines and shapes. This image reminds me Japanese terraced paddy fields called "Tanada".

I like the lines in this shoot and the light reflected on the water. I looked for a nice spot to shoot terrace on my previous visit but didnt find any good spot. Anyway, u should visit Bali again on better weather :)

Nice. A friend of mine lives on the northeast coast near the old capital of Surabaya, some nice waterfalls and beaches there and a world away from the touristy madness of Kuta!

Love the long view here, with the compression and literal layers of earth. Really cool shot, Kelvin.

Wow! Great photo. I was trying to shoot rice paddies in the Far East but what came out is nowhere close to this. Wonderful.
