Boy in Maranatha Orphanage, Iganga, Uganda.
I'm finally back from Uganda and the UK. It's been a pretty long trip, very refreshing and fulfilling. Uganda is a beautiful place, lots to see and experience. To be honest with you I still can't really believe I was there.
Anyways, things aren't always bright and cheery in the African nation. The children in this orphanage for example, are in dire need of care and attention. Currently the lady who is overseeing the Maranatha orphanage is not doing her job at all. Funds for the children have been misused, and it is possible that the lady is using it for her own family.
As of now there are 162 children living in sub-standard conditions. They cram 40 kids in rat-infested rooms with rocky floors and have them sleep without mattresses or blankets. Bedrooms are turned into "classrooms" during the day, which barely serve their purpose because it's usually too dark to study indoors. Hence they're forced to move outside in the boiling sun to study. I don't even know where to start with the toilets.. Let's just say they're not those you'd like to use.
What we're going to do is fund raise and build them a new orphanage, replace the person in charge with someone who's more trust-worthy, and give the kids the home they deserve. They're really sweet kids who should lead better lives than the ones they lead now. We need all the help we can get to reach the target goal of $50,000..so if you have any suggestions, or ideas, please let me know. More pictures coming soon..

and sigh...the spread of cheer and brightness isn't really equal across the whole of humanity. sadly so. delusions, opiate of the masses

great shot. And when we get to know a bit of the story behind, the picture maybe takes another dimension or gets deeper
