Nina Senior ~ Ballerina Jump
One of my most fav shots this Senior Season..
don't know how i can get this shot without this talented Nina..
She was jumping on this Hill that wasn't perfectly flat.. and probably had divots and Ankle breaking holes, but she pulled this off in total Grace..
also mother held the Quadra for this shot..
The Action Speed Head was used for it capability for the first time.. heck that is the reason i bought this short flash duration flash unit anyways.. right?
i had the quadra at about 4.3 power on the Elichrom scale.. and the light was just outside the right side of the frame.

Love how you captured movement in this image Pham. Were you using your deep octa as the modifier? I see that you pushed the shutter speed above your sync speed, can see the shutter but certainly doesn't hurt the image. When you said 4.3 power is that 4.3 ws?
~Phamster~ (19 months ago | reply)
deep octa was used.. .yes..
so the elinchrom quadra has a scale of Point.4 to 6 (so basically 6 stops of light.. and 1/10 increments)
so i was on 4.3 (2/3rds of the 400 watts)...
hopefully that helps..
also thanks guys.. i have been so busy and i promise to be a better flickr member once things slow down.. just one more wedding and 3 sets of seniors to go.. and finally a break..
Thankful! (19 months ago | reply)
One slip, and those white tights would have bright green grass stains! Awesome capture!

Phamster .. you rocked yet another shot! Great action shot, color, and wonderful setting. So well done as usual. And kudos for your mother always holding the Quadra!

hey man - Quadra actually freezes EVERYTHING. It's just you have to make sure that the light covers everything. That part of the leg is your shutter speed not freezing it, meaning it is the ambient light which is responsible for the blur. Thought that might help:)
