Spain - Aragon - Zaragoza - Twilight over Puente de Piedra - Stone Bridge over Ebro River
The Stone Bridge - Puente de Piedra - is fifteenth century Gothic, and is the oldest bridge still in use on the Ebro. This bridge has had a very checkered history because of the flooding of the river and the vicissitudes, as well as numerous renovations.It has seven visible arches and another hidden under the street that runs by the river. It is also called the Bridge of Lions due to the four bronze statues of lions made in 1991 by sculptor Francisco Rallo. The lions are the symbol of the city of Zaragoza.
Although Zaragoza is more famous for its stunning cathedral, this beautiful old stone bridge is surely one of city highlights and it is particularly beautiful during twilight. Luckily the lights are switched on much earlier than on the cathedral, so you can greatly use the time when waiting for the more classic shot.
