Hong Kong - Stunning City View from Victoria Peak (Tai Ping Shan) at Dusk

Victoria Peak (traditional Chinese: 太平山, or previously- 扯旗山) is a mountain in Hong Kong. It is also known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak. The mountain is located in the western half of Hong Kong Island. With an altitude of 552 m (1,811 ft), it is the highest mountain on the island proper. With some seven million visitors every year, the Peak is a major tourist attraction of Hong Kong. It offers spectacular views of the city and its harbours. The number of visitors led to the construction of two major leisure and shopping centres, the Peak Tower and the Peak Galleria, situated adjacent to each other.

There is not much creativity one can do about this shot as the view is more or less give by the view point. However it is a shot I wanted to have in my portfolio for a long time and I'm happy to have it now although I have to admit that it is still quite an effort to get it. You first need to get there in time - which I nearly didnt as I didnt realize how long queues there will be to get to the top, you need to push yourself through the crowd and find a spot amongst that huge amount of people (all wanting to be photographed with this view) to pitch a tripod and while doing all of that you need to pray that the smog will be as limited as possible, which is one of those factors that can quite often ruin shot like this. I only wish I could have done something about that supernova (strong billboard light in the middle), but the light was so strong still during the twilight...

Very nice lucie, it is a shot everyone should have in their portfolio, and whilst everyone gets the same shot there's always subtleties of light and weather conditions, I've spent many an evening busstling my way through the crowds there
