Iran - Shiraz - Blue Hour at The Tomb of Hafez in Musalla Gardens
Khwāja Šamsu d-Dīn Muḥammad Hāfez-e Šīrāzī (Persian: خواجه شمسالدین محمد حافظ شیرازی), known by his pen name Hāfez (born 1315 - died 1390) was the most celebrated Persian lyric poet and is often described as a poet's poet. His Divan is to be found at the home of most Iranians who recite his poems by heart and use as proverb and saying to this day. His life and poems have been the subject of much analysis, commentary, and interpretation and had influenced the course of post-fourteenth century Persian lyrics more than anyone else has. His lyrical poems, ghazals, are noted for their beauty and bring to fruition the love, mystical, and early Sufist themes that had long pervaded Persian poetry. His work is also notable for making frequent reference to astrology and displaying a knowledge of astronomy and the zodiac. Twenty years after his death, a tomb (the Hafezieh) was erected to honor Hafez in the Musalla Gardens in Shiraz. The current Mausolem was designed by André Godard, French archeologist and architect, in the late 1930s. Inside, Hafez's alabaster tombstone bore one of his poems inscribed upon it.
You might have seen my Persepolis photo with the reflection in water puddle. It was a result of this particular day having a heavy rain not only in Shiraz but in bigger part of Middle East. I have welcomed this change as I really needed to catch up on my sleep deficit as 4-5 hours a day is not enough for me (due to all those early wake up calls and late returns). After having a rest for most of the day, I could not resist to miss the evening blue hour and planned to go for shoot to Hafez Tomb as it is one of main places to visit in Shiraz. I was hoping the rain would stop, unfortunately it didn’t however it didn’t stop me neither. I have borrowed umbrella from the hotel and went off. I was pleased that the wet ground gave nice reflection and more colors to the photo, however I ended up completely wet as I was holding the umbrella mainly above the camera. Travel photography is not always easy, but at the end always worth it.
