Kuwait - Star Trails over Two Palm Trees in the Desert

The Arabian Desert is a vast desert wilderness stretching from Yemen to the Persian Gulf and Oman to Jordan and Iraq. It occupies most of the Arabian Peninsula with an area of 2,330,000 square kilometers (900,000 mi²). The flat, sandy Arabian Desert covers most of Kuwait. The climate is extremely dry, and temperatures oscillate between extreme heat and seasonal night time freezes.

Recently I got “addicted” to star trails shots. Since I’ve captured the tree of life in Bahrain, I had a vision in my mind of 2 palm trees lost in the desert with circling star above it. I have asked my friend who is a desert specialist to take me to such a place. He could think of just one place like this and he took me there last night. Luck was on our side as there was also some sand with nice ripples in front of the palm trees which was a nice bonus to the whole composition. We used our beloved iphone and its compass to easily locate the north to capture the northern star and all other stars circling around it. This place is not far from a highway, therefore it doesn’t really get very dark as you would imagine a desert place would get. There were lights coming from very right which gave the palm trees nice background glow. The beautiful front light on the trees and sand was created by pure chance as there were few SUV passing by through the desert, they were in perfect distance and angle to nicely lit the whole scene. So all we had to do once we set our cameras, was to sit and chat over a nice cup of tea and enjoy the nice and warm evening in the desert.

Lucie, a splendid job once again.
Fantastic star-trails and outstanding composition. I really like how you placed the northern star between those two palms. Well done!
