Iceland – Icelandic Minimalism During Sunset Time
The architecture of Iceland draws from Scandinavian influences and, traditionally, was influenced by the lack of native trees on the island. As a result, grass- and turf-covered houses were developed. Later on, the Swiss chalet style became a prevailing influence in Icelandic architecture as many timber buildings were constructed in this way. Stone and later concrete were popular building materials, the latter especially with the arrival of functionalism in the country. Contemporary architecture in Iceland draws its influences from many sources, with styles varying greatly around the country.
This is a similar scene like the one from the shot with the church, however taken on different day and at different place. It was beautiful moment with heavy, dark cloud and only a small gap of clear sky with setting sun on the horizon, I only needed some point of interest to make the photo work. Small house on the horizon has provided me with that.

I also see the halo around the house but for me, that often comes when posting on flickr...the pics don't have the same rendering online than on my comp...

Dag Lucie,
Leaving to Iceland in a few weeks, seeing these kind of images are an inspiration for me and hoping to find some of these locations but most of all the same light as you had here. The gradient in the sky looks wonderful, but also the composition with the lonesome house is well balanced and looks great..!!!
