    I have a tripod, but have yet to use it at the zoo. I've got a Nikon D70S and most of the zoo pics from the past month of mine are with a Nikon 70-300mm zoom, f/4-5.6, no VR. :)

    Thanks everyone.

    @replacement v2, I wasn't down there, I was just at an angle where he was very close, and zoomed all the way in with my 70-300mm zoom (450mm when used on my digital body).
