Flashed Meerkat

I was experimenting with some wireless remote flash. I had my flash setup on a monopod and balanced it against the glass of the Meerkat exhibit.

I took this shot to showoff the setup in hopes of it accompanying a nice closeup, but I thought this image itself was pretty cool.

This would have been the main shot but there's some blur by his head due to a smudge on the glass in front of me...

How do you find so much time to go to the zoo? Do you work there?

It turned out great! Those glass windows are always filthy with smudges. I have even thought about taking some windex and paper towels with me the next time I go!

The NZ Meerkats are always SO hard to photograph; it bums me out a little that they're kept indoors.

This, however, is a fantastic shot--and it gives this little guy the "spotlight" he deserves! Love it.

Nice lighting and nice pose. Thanks for the like to the strobist that you gave in another posting. And I agree that the smudges really suck
