Just think how much better this could have been if it wasn't taken with my broken D300!

I sent it in today to get the focus fixed. Recent use of my D200 enlightened me to how bad the D300 was performing. view larger (while I post this half tongue-in-cheek because it is ok, there's so many shots I missed because the d300 was thinking about *improved focus* and the moment passed...)

that's what the bird's sayin'... "what are you doing shooting me with that limpin' D300, man? come on, my Claws are sharper than That!"

Thank god I don't have problems with my D300's yet, but the D400 is already rumoured...... Can immagine your frustration though and I have had some problems with my camera's too and they always happen when you can't have those kind of problems. Something they call Murphy's law isn't it?

A missed shot is always rewarded eventually. This is one of them.
Seen in my contact’s photos. Have a great day!

I can see the problem in the large version. It doesn't really show in the small version so just keep it small. :-) Just kidding. It is so frustrating to get so close but have a problem. I hope they get it fixed. Thank goodness for us you have a back up.

They say that as long as you get the eye sharp, nothing else matters. :-) Well, it's sure sharp in this shot -- looks like he wants to drill you with a laser beam.

I don't question your doubting the performance of this camera, but I think this is a pretty darn good shot. Just look at that eye.

    17. trykemom (35 months ago | reply)

No, on the large the focus on the eye is just missed. Jon is right to send it in. It is very frustrating for that to happen. This is such a good photo otherwise.

I can see what you mean about it not being -quite- what you were hoping for.. I hope they get the d300 right this time..
