Osprey Chick (#3)

Osprey chick #3 is just about to fledge from 'my nest'. It was so fun to check on them, and see #3 flapping and just barely leaving the nest, only to return a moment later. I think within a day or two this fella will be flying around like his/her 2 sibs.

Beautiful shot Jon, they are so much fun to watch flapping around and trying to get some air under their wings!

Thanks folks, and GK, he's angry because his parent and sibs could fly away when they had enough of me but they still hadn't fledged! A bit later they all came back, and the above osprey came so close to just flying away (that's a blog post waiting to happen).... And thanks Angel Cher too!

A predators eyes ... good luck "little one". Like the eagle chicks, the osprey chicks look so much larger than their parents.

Great shots, Jon. I visited "my" nest yesterday, and was greeted with one chick in flight overhead and one remaining. There were a few others off in the distance, any one of which may have been the 1st from this nest also. One parent was in a tree above. Unfortunately, I didn't get anything nearly as cool as this.. We'll see what I got when I go through them later.. (must revisit perhaps tomorrow a.m.)

These are terrific shots Jon! We still have a few babies in the nest but notr for long. The Eagles here have already flown so I'll keep watching the Osprey. Great job on these!!

Fantastic! "Mine" only hatched around June 17th and I haven't been back for a couple weeks now. Forgot to post the pics too. I should do this this weekend, and stop by. They should be more visible now.
