Yup, you definitely nailed the tightest DoF possible for just the fox. The side-lighting is very dramatic, as well, while you've maintained great detail on his shady side. Excellent work.
I must learn your fox tracking secrets, by the way.. The only times I ever come across them are when I'm driving in the dark and they cross the road in front of me.. *heh heh*

Wonderful capture! Made me wonder if this is part of the family you had photographed last winter. Clearly a Spring photo the green grass bokeh makes a wonderful natural setting for the intense fox.
