White Pelicans @ Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland

    Best enjoyed larger.

From Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Maryland 1/7/2007. I counted about 20-21, and heard someone counted 30 of them yesterday....

A neat capture. Such a tiny spot of land for so many birds *LOL*

Nice, Jon! In all the years I've been going to Blackwater I've neverseen such a large group of pelicans, at least within camera range.

I just acquired a Nikkor AF 300mmm f/4 lens which I'm dying to try out at the refuge.

Best wishes for the neww year!

I didn't know American White Pelicans came through here. I thought we just see brown. How cool!

According to someone at the Visitors center, last year 5 came in... And they chalked it up to Hurricanes changing their migration... But this year there's a lot more and no real Hurricanes. Weird! And very cool to see.

This is great. Nice DOF and must be great to see in person.
