MD Osprey

This is one of the birds from the nest I plan to follow this year. He or she just started to place the sticks on the platform. He/she is already fending off other osprey and at least one eagle. There was a juv. eagle patiently perched in a tree a couple hundred yards from the nest, and chased this guy whenever he/she caught a fish. (please don't ask where it is, I won't reveal it, other than to say it's in Maryland.)

That looks like someone's gold fish from their pond. Great Shot! I hope the fish is enjoying his flight because it will be his last! :)

Great shot. I'll have to go and wait by some Koi ponds. The South River group of Ospreys have not arrived yet....

Terrific in-flight shot -- and with a fish too! I have a nest near my place that I follow and I hope to get some shots like this this year.

Somebody's bummed about their huge koi/goldfish becoming a snack, but I welcome the osprey to it. Nice shot.

I was driving on 295-S one day and saw this very scene. Absolutely awesom that you were able to catch this shot.

Awesome shot...could it be near the Conowingo dam...in the lower Susquehanna River...?
it is a popular feeding spot for many Eagles during the winter months...
      So I have heard....

Great subject to follow this year, and a excellent action photo. Looks like a little panning to get this, super capture!

I wonder how many more goldfish are left in someones fish pond. If there are any I would say their days are numbered. Great capture.

Really nice having the fish color echoed in the background trees, on top of a very nice split-second capture.

Skipbro, Ha! I had the same thought when I saw the bird of prey with the koi. I guess Koi ponds are like WholeFoods for these birds.

Wow! That's got to be a saltwater fish it's bringing in or it's working over someone's aquarium ;-) Very cool image here and I look forward to more as you observe the nest over the coming weeks. Nice work!
