COTD.. yours AND his/hers.. Gotta Love that predictive focus-tracking.. Nice and Tight, Jon.
You've had plenty of practice panning, but at this angle it's still not easy to do so well as this.

Thanks everyone, it was amazing to see and I was so thrilled it came out as it did.

BTW, I was there and there were all these Canon shooters, with much better/bigger rigs than me. One guy had a 600mm f4 I think, with a couple tc's.

Anyhow, when I spotted this fella over the parking lot, I swung around started clicking and got about 5 shots off, the above is the closest and was the best exposure-wise.

The other guys with their big rigs and monopods were adjusting knobs and leaning in their eye peices and missed it all :p They've got me beat at a 1/4 mile but directly overhead, I just started tracking and clicking :D

It must have felt really good to feel energy and aliveness of this one after experiencing the death of the other one. When I have tried to *rescue a seal and it dies it is so healing to be back observing the others.

who knows maybe this one flew over you on purpose?

Fantasticcccccccccc! That eagle looks as focussed as you no doubt were 'clicking and tracking' him flying overhead. Congrats! You certainly brought home the bacon...er...the fish.. with this one!
