This is the from Saturday. Peak is predicted to be roughly Friday 10/26/2007, but depending on how far up and how far north or south you are it should be awesome past this weekend.
View Shenandoah National Park's Fall Foliage page for more up to date info. The page is updated sometime on Friday....

IDK, maybe I'm out of line to post this but, 21 views so far and no comment... This is an awesome view of an awesome mountain range. Maybe it's not an awesome photo, but it was appealing to me.
Is it that I've tried to distance myself from invites? Is it that flickr has devolved to a place where a great view like this is typical? Is it that flickr (as a site, the users, etc) responds better to a more grabbing image, like an eagle closeup? (I've not posted this to any groups yet, and will leave it that way I suppose.)
Whatever the reason, the above photo does it for me.
I'm going to post a captive eagle closeup from the National Zoo in a moment. I suspect I will get a wild response to that, and this image will linger, and be left in the wake of an obvious/good captive eagle closeup.........
I'm going to continue to venture out to new spots, see new things, and post things that appeal to me more so than things I know will get a flickr response.
Maybe it is just a result of the great feedback that flickr.com itself provides, and I'm trying to read too much in to it all.
Let's give it an hour (with the eagle shot I'm about to post, and see what happens)....

Jon, I love that you are mixing up your photo's and these fall photo's are the most gorgeous I have seen on flickr... This is just stunning and breathtaking, the view is awsome.. Just keep doing what you do, I for one do appreciate your talent for spotting beauty weather it be a bird, a bug, or a beautiful scenic capture..

I just spent a week in Wilkesboro, NC which is about 40 miles east of Boone and the Parkway. At this point the foliage hasn't turned nearly as much as your photos. I suppose it's mostly due to the lower altitude. There has been a considerable amount of much needed rain the past couple of days. I don't know how that will affect the peak. Your series on
the foliage is beautiful. As far as Flickr goes I don't understand what makes a photo draw interest and comments and what doesn't. I find your photostream excellent and informative. Just keep doing what you have been doing.

Okay, I'm officially jealous. We went down to Shenandoah last year in hopes of seeing gorgeous fall colors, but we were a tad too late. Looks like you hit it perfectly. Beautiful photo.
There's no understanding flickr. :) I had a recent photo that I thought was really quite nice, and had the exact thing happen. No biggie. I've printed it, framed it and am enjoying it, and that's really all that matters. I've learned not to take this place tooooo seriously. :)
Have a great weekend, Jon. Wish I could say that I'm heading out to find fall color, but I'm working. :(
