Bald Eagle 2 of 3 @ Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland
From Maple Dam Road, near the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.
This might be one of the same birds as seen in this previous shot from some months ago. It's the same tree, and I've seen what might be this pair of eagles in the area just about every visit (over 10). These birds will let you get close, the tree is at the roads edge, but after a bit of observing and taking photos will take off. If I had to guess, I'd say they're older birds and pretty much own the territory and only fly off because they'd rather be alone, not because they're afraid of anything. ;)
