Let the Music Play

Canon Photo5 2010 - "Close Up' Brief - "Eye Dropper"

Imagine a melody so full of life that it can't help but dance off the page.. :)

To create this image, I wrote our a few lines of music, but left some notes out, then placed the torn musical score and some patterned paper under glass. I then painted the missing notes on top of the glass to create the illusion that the notes were floating off the page. Droplets of black paint were used for the body of each note to make them 3-dimensional and to enhance the "floating" look. Speedlight off camera top left of frame to create the shadows of the notes... :) Lots of patience and repeat setups required to get the droplets to play nicely and not just collapse into little puddles... :) But I finally got the shot and am pretty happy with it... :)
